Years of struggle to abolish the death penalty in Iran has not offered any hope of judicial authorities changing their conduct. On the contrary, the execution machine is taking victims more unrestrained than before. In recent years, Iran has had the highest rate of executions per capita in the world and remains one of the few countries that still executes juvenile offenders.

The lives of many political prisoners in Iran are in danger. Since the Islamic Republic of Iran came to power, many political prisoners were executed secretly. This time, Ali Saremi and Ali Akbar Siadat were executed secretly without a legal process.

Hassan Zarezadeh Ardeshir, the president of The Committee for the Defense of Political Prisoners, said the Islamic Republic should be held accountable for the massacre of political prisoners and all crimes against humanity.

"We, with 12 years work on political prisoners issues in Iran and currently having three members in prison , believe that what happens is only for creating fear among Iranian and prevent their democratic struggle. Today we all advocate freedom of political prisoners, we should get together to defend their rights." said Zarezadeh Ardeshir.

The Student Committee for the Defense of Political Prisoners is calling all human rights defenders for an international action to abolish the political executions in Iran. A united and consistent effort will make the lives of many people to be saved.
